    Individual Therapy

A safe, collaborative space to explore your mind, heal emotional wounds, and build a life guided by wisdom and compassion.

At The Center for Compassion Focused Therapy, our individual therapy sessions are designed to help you navigate life's most profound challenges with courage and warmth.

We specialize in evidence-based treatments, primarily Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Rather than just trying to "fix" what is broken, our approach is deeply rooted in understanding the evolutionary nature of human suffering.

Many of the struggles we face—such as anxiety, depression, and self-criticism—are not signs of personal failure. They are the understandable reactions of a nervous system trying to survive in a complex world. In individual therapy, we work together to map out your unique experiences, understand the origins of your distress, and actively train your mind to respond to suffering with self-compassion rather than self-condemnation.

    What to Expect in Therapy

    Understanding Your 'Tricky Brain'

We begin by exploring how human evolution has given us a brain that is naturally prone to anxiety, threat-detection, and difficult emotions. Understanding this helps remove the blame and shame we often place on ourselves.

    Cultivating the Soothing System

Many of us are stuck in 'threat' or 'drive' modes. Therapy focuses on activating your parasympathetic nervous system and developing your 'soothing system' to find inner peace and safety.

    Building the Compassionate Self

We work together to develop a strong, wise, and courageous 'Compassionate Self' that can handle life's difficulties, face fears, and transform harsh self-criticism into warm self-support.

    Areas of Focus

Our clinicians are highly trained to help individuals struggling with a wide range of psychological difficulties, including:

    Chronic anxiety, panic, and worry
    Depression and persistent low mood
    Harsh self-criticism and deep-seated shame
    Trauma and PTSD
    Perfectionism and fear of failure
    Relationship difficulties and attachment wounds
    Life transitions and grief
    Stress and burnout
